National Talent Competition Announces Winners
(Nashville,
TN) –
The winners for the Embassy
Music 15th Annual Ultimate Talent Search competition were chosen at a
showcase over the Labor Day weekend. Joanna King was named the
winner in the Songwriter category for her original tune entitled, "Son of
God." King grew up as a pastor's daughter in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi. She is currently a worship leader for her church in addition
to being an elementary music teacher. As part of her prize package, King's
song, "Son of God," will be released by Embassy Music to Christian
radio as a Christmas single.
Ruben Mundo was named the winner in the Artist category. Mundo won an
artist development session, a professional photo shoot and a recording session
with two-time Dove award-winning producer, Kene Bell. A carpenter by trade,
Ruben is also a worship leader at Church on the Rock in San Diego, California.
Last month, Mundo was one of three solo artists chosen in the
"Best of the Blessed" competition. As a result, he was featured
on the Christian Music Awards, hosted by Cece Winans and Brian Littrell, airing
this Fall on the Gospel Music Channel.
Over the years, Embassy Music's talent search has helped launch artists and
songwriters in various musical genres. Embassy Music discovered Leeland at
the age of 14 at their Ultimate Talent Search & Seminars. Through
their artist development program, Embassy Music helped Leeland land a publishing
deal with EMI and a record deal with the Provident Label Group.
Leeland toured with Third Day and completed a 36-city tour with Grammy
Award-winning artist Casting Crowns. Leeland went on to achieve a Grammy
nomination in 2009 for Best Pop Contemporary Gospel Album for his work on Opposite
Way, as well as, numerous Dove nominations.
Two of Embassy's recent talent search finalists have also gained national
attention. Robert Mauti was a runner-up in the "Gospel Dream"
competition on Gospel Music Channel. Mauti's new self-titled debut
features John Katina (lead singer for The Katinas) and Dove Award-winning vocal
sensation, Rachel Lampa. Mauti is also a member of the popular mulit-cultural
Soul Choir and has sung backup for Amy Grant, Point of Grace, Bill Gaither, Matt
Redman and Chris Tomlin.
Another Embassy Music prodigy, Brandon Green, went on to place in the top 50 of American
Idol and was featured in the top 10 pairings on the new season of the
"Can You Duet" TV show broadcast on CMT
(Country Music Television).
"I was really impressed with the level of talent we had at this
event," said Darwin Moody, president of Embassy Music. "We heard
some great songs and met some talented artists. I feel honored to play a
small part in their careers."
Embassy Music specializes in discovering and developing new artists and

Singer/songwriter Dawn Nichols is a seeker. As a child, Dawn sought out music in
what may seem to be unusual places. She heard rhythms in machines, harmonies in nature and tapped
beats on anything she touched. One might say Dawn found music through simple things.
Early on, Dawn discovered music to be a natural release.
Inspired by artists such as James Taylor and Rich Mullins, Dawn is now using
music in pursuit of a new kind of release. Dawn's album, entitled "My Offering," draws
on the same inspiration she found early in life through simplicity. Dawn finds ministry
and inspiration through nature and music. "Psalm 19 is absolutely true! God reveals himself
everyday and is always speaking. Just consider the vastness of the ocean, take a walk through the
woods or watch a sunset," says Dawn. "Sometimes we get caught up in the hustle of everyday
life. I hope my music encourages and inspires others to see how God is always there with us, and
how amazing He really is." Dawn's ministry is genuine, interweaving humor with a love for
music and teaching. Her music, sincere and earnest, is sure to lead its listeners into
their own world of discovery.
Dawn's title track, "My Offering," a communion song, is being made available to churches for
their upcoming Easter services. Dawn is making the song free of charge as a ministry to
local churches. Knowing that Easter Sunday often finds pews
filled with non-church goers, Dawn hopes her song will be a witness to unbelievers as well.
With both a traditional and contemporary version of "My Offering," it's the perfect
song for communion services. If you or your congregation are blessed by this song, feel
free to contact Dawn directly. She would love to hear from you! You can contact her at
