moses toth

Moses Aaron Toth was born on October 29, 1971 to parents Gene & Elaine Toth.  By the age of ten he knew what he wanted more than anything: a career in music.  In short order, he began his professional singing career with a three year stint in the studio and on stage with the critically acclaimed children’s group, Kids Praise.

Moses began songwriting, shortly thereafter, studying the lyrics of Wayne Kirkpatrick, Steve Hindalong, and Steve Taylor as well as the music of Michael W. Smith, Derri Daugherty, and Steven Curtis Chapman.  Although singing was his first love, songwriting quickly began to overshadow it.

With a burgeoning passion for his craft, and while only in his late teens, he was hired to record vocals with recording artists Crystal Lewis, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, and Jon Gibson, as well as producers Roby Duke and Walt Harrah.  It was at this time that he began gathering five of his friends to form his first band, Reconciled.

In the late 90’s he formed a prog/rock band, A Band Called Moses.  They opened for secular recording artists Aimee Mann, Jude, and Sally Taylor, garnishing rave reviews from record companies such as Interscope and Maverick.  Adopting the production name Ben Pipik he co-produced the band’s first and second albums, and later produced albums and demos for Orange County and San Diego County musicians.

His musical palate evolved again as he started studying the talent of Joni Mitchell, Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls, Jonnatha Brooke of The Story and Kevin Gilbert from Toy Matinee.  The more obscure the music, the better.

By the age of 30, Moses had written, produced and directed his first musical: The Nazarene.  It was met with praise from both Disney and DreamWorks Productions.

In 2004, Moses won awards for both Best Artist and Best Songwriter at the Embassy Music Competition in Nashville, TN.  This has since afforded him the opportunity to submit songs to the Christian recording groups Avalon and Jump Five, as well as secular pop artist, Clay Aiken.

At the age of 33, Moses now dreams that his career in music will take root primarily in the field of songwriting, and that God will be honored in all that he does. Moses is currently working as the Music Ministries Director for Seaside Community Church in Huntington Beach, CA; he and his wife live in Lake Forest, CA.
